It's Been a While!

It's been way too long since an update, so I decided to post a drawing! In other news, I'm working on a secret project for my friend's birthday, and I'm still looking for a job. Anyway, once the project is finished, I suspect I'll display a bit of it on this site, and perhaps make copies to sell at conventions.

Anywho, about this illustration...it's the first of a series I'm planning on completing. They're more or less character designs for the fictional band Thickening Agent. What you see below are the bass player and the guitarist, respectively. I still have to post the lead singer and the drummer, along with their various friends and family.

I'm also waiting for the two who won my last contest to get back to me about what they would like me to sketch. I will be posting another contest piece up soon, so get ready! As you know, the prize is a colored sketch of anything you want!

See you soon, I hope!

Contest!

Hi everyone! I started a contest at my other blog a while back, and really wanted to continue with a different possibility to win every week, but I didn't have the time. So I'm trying again now that I'm a free bird!! This week's contest is pretty much like last time's.

Below I have an illustration that I drew with the initial inspiration being a Greek goddess. You tell me which Greek goddess it was that inspired this and you'll get a free sketch from me of anything you want!

Except...y'know, porn.

Careful, cuz it might be a little tricky. Tell me who you think it is below in the comments, or send me an Email at madisonhenline@gmail.com. Good luck!

Bleedingheart Dove and Cover Art

I believe this will be the last of the updates concerning the "Strange Tales of the American South" book I completed for Self-Publishing. It's sad, in a way. I'm at my mom's house in Florida at the moment, and yesterday when I cleaned my closet I found all this art I did as projects for foundation classes. Seems like so long ago! Anyway, this first image is the title card for the Bleedingheart Dove. The story, as always, can be found here: http://themoonlitroad.com/the-bleeding-heart-dove/

This second image was completed in watercolors and I like it pretty much except for the plant in the background and the girl's feet. Seriously! What was I doing there? The colors I used for her skin also turned out very splotchy for some reason. I need practice!

Below is the cover image I used. It's very simple and very...digital.

And finally, the completed book! I also created a back page showing previews of the stories and giving credit to Craig Dominey and his website, but there wasn't really an illustration on the back save for a derpy bird, so I suppose this is it!

This illustration is one of my personal favorites, and the story it's based upon is one of my favorites as well. The story is here: http://themoonlitroad.com/the-white-dress/

And I'd highly recommend reading it. It's short, sweet, and awesome.

I also had a version of this drawing where I included the lines and details of her dress.

But in the end, I just thought it looked better with the white. I also included a picture I took of the finished book, open to the page with this illustration on it.

In other news, I wanted to give you guys my E-mail in case anyone wanted to contact me. You can E-mail me at either madisonhenline@gmail.com or FeatheredIce@aol.com. I'll have some more posts up later, when I'm not job searching. Thanks for reading! :D

Stranger In The Church

Here's another couple of illustrations from the book. I really enjoyed drawing these.

The original story can be found here: http://themoonlitroad.com/stranger-in-the-church/

It's a zombie! Run!! The only thing that bothers me about this illustration is the man's right hand. What's it doing? Why are his fingers curled up like that? Does he have a disease? Arthritis? What's going on?!

Plat-Eye Illustration

It's been a busy weekend, and I am now officially a graduate cum laude of the Savannah College of Art and Design! It's been an amazing journey and I appreciate everyone who has gotten me this far! I'd like to upload all the work I did for "Strange Tales of the American South" before moving on to other things, so I thought I'd start with illustrations for a tale known as The Plat-Eye.

The original story can be read on Craig Dominey's website, here:
http://themoonlitroad.com/the-plat-eye/

This piece is a lot different from the stuff I normally do, as for the style and color choices. But I also got to draw a monster dog. So that was fun.

I'll be uploading more soon, so keep an eye out!
